Learn to Weave
A 2 day intensive learning the whole weave process on a table loom for the beginner
Service Description
This is a two day intensive learning to weave course on a table loom for the complete beginner or those that may be a little rusty and in need of a reminder. It is a fast paced workshop but the quiet and relaxing studio at Project Workshops and Sharon’s teaching style will ensure it is enjoyable and fun course. The course covers the whole process of weaving from thread to finished woven cloth on a Harris Table Loom. You will learn how to design a threading plan, wind a warp, dress the loom and finally read the lifting plans and weave some stunning samples using Sharon’s publication, “A Designer’s Guide to Weave.” Day 1 You will learn to design your own warp choosing your own colour schemes, wind it on a warping frame or mill and then wind it on the loom. You will then be guided in threading your warp following a threading draft that you planned at the beginning. Sharon will be on hand to guide you through every stage of the process with enthusiasm and refreshments when needed! Day 2 You will spend the morning threading your warp though the reed, tying the warp in preparation for weaving, with the remainder of the day spent exploring colour, texture and simple structures - weaving your own designed cloth! All materials, tools and supporting handouts will be provided. You will go home with ample notes and a small technical log book so that you may continue once the course has finished. Lunch and refreshments are provided and there is plenty of free on-site parking.
