Natural Colour and Weave
Slow down and nurture your creativity by spending two days immersed in colour, pattern and nature
Service Description
These workshops are held in the summer months so we can use flowers direct from the garden to supplement some forage materials, which are then used to create woven tapestries on the second day. Due to the wonder and vagaries of the seasons and growing habits plants and colours which can be achieved will vary through the summer season. The first day will be spent making dye baths using flowers from the garden which you will use to dye wool and small fabric samples, producing a delightful palette of colours. Lucy will guide you through the emotional connection to colour and how these help forge memories and mood. Day two and a head full of colour, swimming with ideas, Sharon will teach you how to observe pattern, repetition, shape and texture in your surroundings and how to interpret these elements into woven tapestries on a frame loom. She will show you how to set it up, learn a a few simple techniques, how to take it off the loom and how to finish it. This two day course will allow you to play and explore through gentle encouragement, whilst enjoying cups of tea, homemade cake and a tasty vegetarian lunch. All materials provided
