Personal Profile
Sharon Kearley is a UK-based textile practitioner, author, researcher, and educator with a focus on woven textiles and material heritage, concerned with the limited impact of materials on the land. Drawing on thirty years of experience; initially in the Costume and Fashion Industries in the UK and abroad, she later moved into academia and education, collaborating with organisations and museums researching community and textiles heritage.
Sharon works from her studio at Project Workshops, that serves both as a working space and an inclusive educational centre. The studio’s mission is to preserve time-honoured techniques, with access to traditional looms, inviting people to explore the rich legacy of weave through immersive, practice-based learning.
"Weaving is a tactile language that connects us to our history, heritage, and the rhythm of making,” says Sharon.
“This studio is a space for slowing down, exploring craftsmanship, and celebrating the stories embedded in cloth."
The studio is a warm and welcoming unique blend of creative space and hands-on education, located in the heart of Test Valley.
Sharon offers a dynamic program of workshops for beginners to intermediate & advanced and can be found here.
