I have recently been awarded  £500 for Innovation & Development by the Society of Designer Craftsmen and The Gane Trust.  

 

I am using this money to further research and develop basket making techniques in collaboration with my weaving to further explore my vessels.  I am interested how these two similar yet wholly differing approaches can work in conjunction with one another to create interesting shape and form from a seemly rigid flat woven cloth to a 3dimensional vessel with the added methods of basket making.

Materials are of extreme importance in this research and how they inform the outcome of these artworks.
